Is this toxic and should I be concerned?

Ir is hard to see in this pic. It is a dull white color in the crevices of the rock.

I think what you are referring to as sponges is what I'm talking about. Do they just spring up? Not sure what turf algae is. What color is it?

Gotcha. Ya the algae I was referring to is the green algae on the upper left of pic mostly. It may be a hair algae also hard to tell from the pics.

The whitish color stuff all through the middle is a sponge yes and they do just spring up at times. Either small pieces on live rock or small pieces that may come in on coral frags. Some sponges are ok and others not so good. Personally something like that I usually start removing just because it can be relatively fast growing and take over a lot of space and like to keep it under control.

Thanks for the info. I have been going through GHA eradication and got rid of most of it using the Flux and keeping my nitrates and Phosphates low (NO<5 and PH.03) but it is still growing back though more slowly. So I'm surprised that sponges would pop up.
