Always see these tiny white star fish looking things on my tank glass but have never known what they are or what their job is in the aquarium.

They have a body with what appears several legs making it appear like tiny star fish or snow flakes...Thoughts?

Do you notice them moving around or are they sessile? What I see looks more like a kind of Hydroid.
I never see them moving but they somehow end up on the glass. I did a larger water change yesterday and the water is very clear so they are more noticable on the glass.

I'm going to go with a Hydroid of some kind. We'll wait for others to give their ideas as well.

Hydroids - Medusae

(Mini Jellies, Medusa)

Suitability: Watch them!
Diet: Small plankton and particulate matter. Not a problem except in breeding tanks, etc.
