Picked up from a local reefer along with some other items. Has pretty cool coloration! This is under pretty white light.

Thanks - I googled those and they don’t have any green though! The ones I have are bright green in the center.

Yeah, idk I haven’t seen a genetic like that before. I looked at wwc but couldn’t find anything, maybe try top shelf corals or west coast maybe?

I apologize, new to the hobbie. I was focusing on the pink tentacle part, is the names of zoa based on the inside/mouth coloration ,and the tentacles vary in color?
The entire polyp. There are some strains that are very close but differ only slightly, so the skirt, center and overall coloration are all used to distinguish.
Zoanthids.com has a good picture library of strains. There's quite a few. Take a look and you'll get an idea on the variation.

What do you look for when identifying zoas? Pls

You need to look at the colors as a whole- mouth, margin and skirt. Given the subjective nature of naming and certain strain’s ability to morph it takes awhile to really see enough stuff to know what you’re looking at. It also takes awhile to figure out what’s OG, a rebrand, and to determine which names are widely recognized vs one-offs from certain vendors. Best was to get started is with Google images but even then there’s a certain amount of misidentification.

Thanks for the info. Seems complicated. Lol
