If it were me and that rock has plays... I'd toss it for good.

I think he did that to save you a lot of trouble and headaches down the road.
Once aiptasia has spread in your tank you will never ever get rid of it.
Same with these palys as you don't know what kind of palys they are.
It's cool that when your new in the hobby and stuff pops up you want to cherish it but believe me 50/50 you end up down the road with a disaster.
Take that piece of rock out and lay it in the sun for two weeks.
