I have been looking high and low for amphipods to put in my fuge and I went to a new to me LFS an hour away in the hopes they had some (and because I was bored). They didn't have any but the guy did talk me into buying these tiny shrimp that he traps in a tank. I figured it couldn't hurt and it was only five bucks and I drove an hour might as well get something out of it. They are 1mm long and through a magnifier I can see tiny undulating legs, to big eye spots and a typical shrimp tall. They are white and slightly opaque. I don't think they are brine shrimp and I know they aren't amphipods so does anyone know what they are? I hope they propagate before they go in the display because they won't last long in there.

Sounds like mysid. They will no propagate outside of your tank. Their numbers will go down quickly if they are in a culture bucket/tank. They are cannibals. You can google a picture.

There are ways to culture them but it involves pipes with sieves and one way currents.

If you toss them in the display at night they will often propagate in the display for a long while. This is especially true if small meaty foods are fed to the tank.
