ID: was sold as Duncan but long tentacles

Hi everyone I bought this coral as a Duncan coral and I still believe it is but I have never seen a duncan with tentacles this long... can someone verify it’s a Duncan and I’m not going crazy

I have a Duncan in my tank with decent tentacles, not as long as yours but that’s definitely a Duncan coral

You might want to frag it into smaller pieces if it gets out of control. Just a suggestion

Have a look at this link.. mine was like that until I moved it out of a high flow area and closer to the light.

Duncan coral, long stringy tentacles?

Just wondering if this is a bad thing? I recently lost two heads and a third appears to be detaching. I bought a frag with about six heads approx 8 months ago and the only growth has been the tentacles elongating. I target feed mysis a couple times per weeak and it is placed towards the bottom...

Definetly a Duncan. A couple of the heads on mine have really long tenticals, but not the whole thing.

That makes sense as I do have a good amount of flow in the tank... it keeps growing heads and is colored nicely so not going to change anything

I think the opposite of the above poster. My Duncan came with long tentacles just like yours. I think they get that way in lower flow as mine has now gotten shorter tentacles in the higher flow of my tank(which is wave like,ie back and forth). The kinky/twisted look of the tentacles of your's tells me that they're going in that direct(shorter) as that's how mine looked in between long and shorter.

The flows stayed the same and it’s pretty high with 2 MP40’s on a 75g so not sure since they got longer since I got it as a 2 head frag about 6 months ago

I saw a ad somewhere(might have been reeftrader) not long ago that said "Rare long tentacle Duncan for sale", and they were asking just a little bit more than normal for it.

I've owned duncans twice and both times they looked like that. I prefer that look to the short extension.
