While I have seen quite a few different feather dusters, I have never seen one quite like this...

Smack dab in the middle, is a long (tentacle) with a white ball on it...

Any help on specific ID would be much appreciated!

TIA!

Are the cilia on the bottom the base?

Here’s a video too [emoji6]

Someone’s gotta know what this is

No idea from the pic.

It's definitely not an aptasia, zoa/paly, mini white feather duster ??

Following. [emoji848]

Thanks for your reply norfolk. It’s definitely got all the traits of a feather duster. But somethings just, different. It’s killing me that my post has had literally 150 or so views, yet no one knows....

Idk if I posted it in the wrong section/forum, or if people are just plain stumped [emoji848]

#mods can you move this thread to the Hitchhiker thread?

Just left my LFS, and not even the owners knew what it was...

I need help being guided in the right direction

I think its a sabellid tube worm. And that tube with the ball could be an operculum. So look closely at it and put something near it so it closes up. Then see if that ball covers the opening of its tube when it goes in.

Hmmm...fonda have to do some research there..I always thought as @SAPPER said it was like a snails operculum and closed the tube behind it.....

That looks strikingly close! But I’m still not convinced. I did take another video last night, and did what you recommended..

Thoughts?
