I currently have a Red Sea REEFER 250 that has been up and running for about 3 months. I want to add some new fish and want to get your opinions on how they were in your tanks or any suggests for other fish.

Current livestock:
Pair of Wyoming white clownfish
Yellow tang
Lawnmower blenny

Want to add:
Coral beauty angel
Mandarin goby
Leopard wrasse

Coral stock:
Zoas
Acans
Birds nest
Montipora cap
Bubble coral
Flower pot

tank is way to young and probably too small for mandarin and leopard. both hard to keep. also they will compete for pods. refugium?
maybe coral beauty....

I do not have a refugium but was planning to add pods and I added a bunch at the start. This is my second tank. I managed to keep a fire pipefish in my 25 gallon for about 18 months by adding pods.

Here’s a pick of the sump area of the RedSea and my older nano tank that is still up and running.

Coral beauty may pick at your Zoas. I’d be careful with that fish and some coral. I personally wouldn’t risk it.

Hmm you can try that with the pods, but it's not recommended. Before I knew better, I fed a mandarin bottle of pods weekly to a tank starting at about this tank age. The mandarin did well, but this may have just been luck. The conventional wisdom is to wait much longer for tank to become established before adding a mandarin, though. I've sworn off adding dwarf angels (or any non-genicanthus angels) to any tanks with corals, and many people would agree with this strategy. There are equally as many success stories, though. It's up to you. IMO, it's a gamble. I cannot comment on the leopard wrasse from experience, as I have none. But I know it's considered a challenging group of wrasses to keep. As for other suggestions: royal gramma or other basslet, flasher wrasses and/or fairy wrasses, hawkfish, hardy gobies like watchman.

Hi! I have six leopards in my tank.... current tank up and running 5 years....I rarely add pods....all my Leopards ate Mysis since day 1. My tank was established for two years before I added a leopard. If you do try a leopard I would recommend getting one from your LFS, make sure it has been at the LFS for at least a week, and watch the fish eat before taking him home.

I keep all Wrasses, a purple tang, and 2 blennies. I used to keep Angels, but they all are coral nippers. So I like them but don't keep them. Keep that in mind....unless you look into the Genicanthus Angels there are no reef safe Angels.....keep that in mind if you keep corals.

6 leopards? nice! how big tank? pictures? jealous!
have you kept any genicanthus?

Thanks!! [emoji16]. No I haven't kept any Genicanthus Angels. I have never seen one at my LFS. My purple tang probably wouldn't like it very much! LOL! He is cool with the Wrasses though! Here are some pictures....some are older....I need to try and get one with all of them. I apologise 5 leopards, I just lost my Ornate leopard from the other day. I have 2 blue star leopards, 2 Melegris leopards, and 1 Moyers.

Although leopards are tricky to acclimate, most will take mysis, brine, etc. They will certainly eat pods so I’d not keep them with a mandarin. I have 10 leopards across multiple species and there’s not a pod to be found in the display (plenty in the sump though).

Genicanthus angels are completely reef safe, but a bit bland looking IMO.

I totally agree! I don't keep a Mandarin because of my Leopards! I have no pods in my display that I can see eaither! LOL! I probably need to add some again!

Thanks everyone.

I’ll prob wait another six months until I give a try at the mandarin.

Any ideas for reef safe wrasse that don’t eat pods but have tons of color.

Any other suggestions on some fish.
