Idea?

Has anyone thought or done this: running a canister filter out of the tank using floss, carbon or other materials then the outflow goes into a refugium. Supplying the biological filtration necessary and a protien skimmer then back to the tank. You would just need to monitor the flowrate and have an adjustable return pump. Just trying to think outside the box

No reason it shouldn't work. Though I haven't done it, I will do so on a frag tank. Thanks for sharing your idea.

But ya probably wouldnt about siphoning the tank in a power outage
