I’m going for a fish + softies tank, and I would like to know what are the acceptable and what is the ideal level my nitrates should be at. I know my ammonia and nitrite need to be undetectable, and my nitrates should be low, but I’m not sure what would be an ideal level.

Though this will be quite some time away, I might try my hand at keeping some LPS / SPS corals about a year from now. In that case, will acceptable parameters change?

You will get many different opinions on this, but I’ll say 5-10ppm nitrate as a basic guideline.

My S650 actually runs around 20-25ppm nitrate and glows with life so there can be many variations
