Greetings of the Day,

What is the ideal clean up crew for a Display tank of 150 US Gallons.
The size of the tank is 72X24X21 (LxBxH)

Right now i have the following
6 turbo snails
10 ceriths
10 nerites
10-15 nassarius
1 red hermit
1 blue hermit
1 sand shifting star fish

Planning to add more Nassarius and cerith as they burrow and aerate the sand ..

Any suggestions ??

Thank You very much

Thank you saw that :)

According to them i need the following
148 Dwarf Ceriths
38 Nassarius
34 Ceriths
36 Nerites
32 assorted hermits

aint this soo much ??

For me, that's a lot of hermits. I think the snails are probably a little high but not insane.

I started my 125 with a no crab reefcleaners pack. Great service but I'm not a big fan of dwarf ceriths.

After a couple years the crew dwindled. I went to reeftopia.com and bought 100 turbos, 50 Nassarius, and 3 emerald crabs for my 125. I'm much more happy with this CUC.

100 turbos :0 great ....

I read couple of threads they suggest 1 snail per gallon .... Soo that makes 150 snails in my tank .....

Yes in my old tank the hermit pick up my snails but in this tank my hermit is docile .... He doesnt ...

I feel like some crabs are needed. Snails just don't take down the larger stuff, they mostly much on the filamentous algaes. Maybe emeralds are a better choice, they shouldn't bug the snails. Or have lots of extra shells for the hermits.

One snail per gallon is a very general rule. For example, someone with a minimalist or bonsai scape will need a lot less than someone with a rock wall.

Great soo mine is minimalistic scape.... Soo ll get with 75% of the said rule ....

For the crabs which is best to get ??

Currently have about 120 tiny blue leg hermits, 6 trochus snails, 2 sand sifting stars in my 110G along with a blue tang, rock blenny, and a desjardini tang.

Rule of thumb is to have a snail and hermit per gallon, luckily because of your minimalist scape you'll be fine with little CUC. I would suggest focusing on CUC for the sand though.

Regarding the snails, depending on which ones you got with you can go down in the quantity. I only go with trochus snails or mexican turbo snails because they can flip themselves and don't die out as much.

In my opinion and experience, the suggestion by reef cleaners is a pretty good one to begin with. I remember when I first contacted John to stock my 210 gallon and he sent me what seemed like a hugely overstocked CUC, I was a bit apprehensive. I reluctantly ordered per his suggestions and it turned out perfectly. When the package arrived it did seem like quite a bit, but giving the CUC a few days, everyone spread out a bit more and began going to work. What I like about Reef Cleaners suggestions are that he supply a really well rounded CUC. I asked him about giving me even more variety and he had some great suggestions and options for me.

Ok @jmanyoma but what do u do with 120 hermits  thats quite a lot ......

Ok maybe not 120.... but a good amount lol. I just chuck them in my refugium and DT. I've managed to place my corals in spots that they can't really squeeze into, every often ill find one or two frags tilted on the rocks.

Main thing is making sure I get all the really small ones and luckily since I have trochus snails I don't have many empty snail shells laying around. When I find a sucker that too big I just chuck him in the refugium.
