I have a reefer 170 and have been thinking about adding on to the side of the cabinet to put my apex and other stuff in it and to clean up under the aquarium to give more room around the sump. I am thinking of just doing a plywood 8-10 in depth cabinet with a door and mount it on the right side of the cabinet. Is there anyone that has added on to their reefer 170 cabinet and if so how did you do yours? And if not is there someone that had just done some sort of add like this onto any cabinet. Any ideas at all could help me and give me a idea so a better way to do this.

I would also like to see photos of this kind of set up, if possible. Has anyone ‘water proofed’ theirs, in case the tank fails and leaks directly into the outlet bank)? Many thanks :)

May want to look at a nema box. Amazon has some. I have a couple sockit boxes i've been meaning to use for a similar application like you're thinking of. Right now i have stand mounted controllers and wall mounted relays and transformers. the right side of my tank has always been a mess that i hide. Although i have it all raised and shielded, It's still a mess IMO. The sockit boxes were cheap and i figured i would dremmel out the bottoms and side mount the boxes to the stand. A large nema box was my first choice but they are not cheap. I believe Marine depot has a controller organizer rig as well but i haven't checked prices out for that.

I saw someone on here just used something like an Ikea type cabinet, think it was a medicine cabinet or something like that, not sure if something like that would work for you or mix w/ whatever finish is on your stand or not, but I thought it was a fast and cheap fix that looked decent.

Someone posted this one on another page but I can not find it on a reverse image search or anywhere else.

I built this out of a stand that was wonky from the manufacturer. Just cut it in half and made it my storage cabinet, then I added some liner to the top to make it a water resistant workspace.

Not the same tank but pretty much exact same cabinet, set up for sliding shelves but never got around to finishing them;Sorry cabinets are made of laminated pine boards and capped in Quartz Counter tops

This is my current system and these are both stands are just ordinary kitchen cabinets.

This is my old system and the big tank is on a Cad Light stand (it looks very much like a Red Sea stand). The one on the right is again, a kitchen cabinet.
