Ideas for fish in a 75g tank

hey fish experts out there. Its time tostart thinking about fish for my seen to be complete tank.

I plan on keeping a mixed reef mainly softy and lps with possibly getting some sps and a clam later on.

I already plan on getting a bonded pair of clown fish. Hopefully the black variety but standard will be ok also.

I would like to have a tang and dwarf angle if possible not sure on what type and I would like to hear suggestions for both or if you think I should skip these.

I am also open to other fish suggestions that would work for this tank. I think i want a focus on corals with a light to medium fish load.

I am open to all thoughts and suggestions.

Also no damsels or chromis. I just not a fan. Minus the clown fish of course.

Other than generic soft and lps i have no idea yet.

Mushrooms
Toadstool

As far as lps maybe a brain

I would start with the pair of clowns. Then add your corals. Tangs & angels can be hit or miss with certain corals. Once you're comfortable with corals and they're showing signs of growth, research fish that strike your fancy vs the corals you've accumulated. It's too easy to get "impulsed" into a fish only to find it's trashing some of your prized corals - many of us have been through that.

Tangs are too big and active for a 75g.

Dwarf angels are risky with corals, with clams, zoas and fleshy brain corals being the highest at risk.

Some species I recommend include: royal gramma, flame or longnose hawk, midas blenny, solorensis fairy wrasse, lubbocks fairy wrasse, yellow coris wrasse, and melanurus wrasse.

I just added a hammer to mine. Great looking softy. Maybe some branching stuff and I love green stars because they add nice color

I had a toadstool in my first tank before the white slime plague took over and I loved when all the polyps(is that correct) where out. Looked awesome if i get another one i think id get a green toadstool.

if you don't get a basslet, i like my orchid dottyback. but if you don't like slightly pugnacious fish, maybe best to avoid. i kinda like fish that stand up for themselves, though

fathead sunburst anthias would be cool too if you are down to spend a little more

I am not opposed to spending extra money once i know my tank is stable.

Would 6-8 fish make sense or would that be low?
I know size of fish matters.

What about a fire fish or some Banggai or pajama cardinals?

Are there any butterfly fish that will be ok in a 75g?

Also are there any fish that will actively swim around the tank similar to a tang or trigger that is small enough for my tank and reef safe?

I agree with most of this, although I do feel that a few of the smaller bristletooth tangs will work in a 75 gallon long term provided you get them at around the 2-3 inch size range (ie Tomini, Squaretail, White Tail Bristletooth) as they aren't quite the open water swimmers that most tangs are. Definitely only one for the tank though.

There are no butterflyfish that will work in a 75 gallon that won't be a high risk to corals (Butterflyfish are generally worse than Dwarf Angels when it comes to coral nipping). If you went FOWLR then there are several butterflyfish that could work in that size of a tank.

Ill take a look at those tangs. I would want to get all the fish as small/you g as possible but I know its not always possible.

Never heard or seen them before but they look cool. Ill have to do some more research on them. They are a distinct possibility. Thanks for that suggestion
