I know 1 MAYBE 2 small fish. But any ideas as to what. Was thinking a clown pair, but now Im thinking that will be too much. I am wanting to have inverts like shrimp. Want my daughter to see this grow and change.

A yellow watchman goby with a pistols shrimp, an azure or yellow tail damsel, and a cleaner shrimp would make for nice activity for all to watch and enjoy

Damsels bring back nightmares from when I was told by an lfs to “cycle” the 210 with them

Clown goby!
+1
I love clown gobies, but they might not be too active especially if you want it to be something for your daughter to watch. In that case a 'nemo' might be a good option, it'll move and also have the recognizable factor.

I was showing her different breeds today while picking up salt, sand and stuff. Lol

Tailspot Blenny
Def colorful

We have a 10g with a pair of oscellaris clowns, 2 tiny anemones and a bigger one, a small bicolour Blenny, mandarin, snails, Gonis, alveo, frammer and a coral banded shrimp (who is going back to lfs)
Yes I know it’s overstocked but we do regular testing and water changes often.
Clowns (juvi pair) would be best, with a bta, they are colourful, active and have wonderful personalities.

Wouldnt that bta get too big for a 10g?

Like that pair as it would show relationships among species

IMO a 10 gallon with a nem and a couple fish will not be an easy task.

The nem will generate more waste than the couple fish.

You would need a very good skimmer and have to do water changes weekly if not more.

Nems are very sensitive to certain parameter swings, and those swings happen rapidly in a tank that size.

Also it will make it much more difficult to keep most corals alive with those swings.

I recommend you stick with my original recommendation.

Mike.

The goby and pistol are nice except they hide and while cool to watch you don't see pistol much but that little bulldozer of shrimp is funny. The clowns don't do much but hang out at the back of the tank. Took about 8 months for mine to roam around and still they prefer to hang out at back.

Skunk shrimp are my fav to watch and like that they crawl all over hands when I'm cleaning tank.

Favorite to watch is the lawnmower blenny. He is is very active and just all around cool

Not to mention the lip marks all over the glass from the blennies
