Ideas on tank lid?

Hello, so I have a fluval evo 13.5 which has been running for awhile now. I want to upgrade the light to a AI Prime or a hydra which means I have to ditch the lid. I personally don't want to go through the extra work of a ATO plus my cat trys to get on my tank all the time. Could I use a clear sheet of polycarbonate on top of the tank? If not do you have any recommendations what I could use? I want it to be pretty much enclosed kinda like how it is now.

I don't see why not. For a cleaner look you can cut it to size and use those clips used to hold the mesh lids. The lid and moisture that'll accumulate underneath will block some light but should be minimal.
