Identification Help

Hi, I need help identifying an ongoing problem with my fish. I recently lost a flame angel a few days to a week after I noticed an odd growth on the bottom of his gill plates, they looked swollen to me. Today I noticed my bangai cardinal has a small 2mm sized fluffy ball on his gill plate that sticks out as far as his eye. Ill include pictures of both fish, although its so hard to get good pictures. A month before the angel died I did notice my royal gramma looked really rough (frayed fins, bulged eye, lethargic) but he has since recovered. Ive looked through the identification guides but have been unable to find anything that matches this. Im thinking either bacterial or fungal infections of the gills? The only change in the tank has been a change from zero water change triton method to an automatic daily water change system. Thanks in advance for you help!

Could be secondary bacterial infection... have you checked for flukes? Frayed fins and eye infections are often secondary to flukes.

5-minute freshwater dip on one of the fish would tell for sure.

When was the last fish added? Or really anything “wet”

White-cotton like growths are usually associated with Lymphocystis, which is viral and not usually fatal. But, opportunistic... much like bacterial infections, so if there is a parasite present (like flukes) could be triggering the lympho as well.
