Hey everyone,

New on this forum and only 6 months in the saltwater hobby. Anyone with experience who could identify this algae?

“Cycled” (120 gallons, Amm 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10 ppm and phosphates not measurable) 2 weeks ago. I know the tank has to mature now, but it would be nice to specifically know what kind of algae this.

Kind Regards

Being such a young tank, it could be going thru the ugly stage. If that is the case then all you really can do is wait it out as it does go away.

@ReefSquad, does it look like anything else?

Hair algae. It can be managed with snails like trochus, cerith, and gold ring cowries. Those 3 do the best jobs and are the heartiest in my experience. The ceriths come in multiple sizes. I find it best to get a variety.

look like Dinos to me, but dont take that as a guarantee, I would brush it off with a soft brush or turkey baster
