Hey Guys,

Can anyone tell me what this is dangling from my new coral? Is it bad?

I dont want anything killing my corals... Should I just remove this new coral?

So its part of the coral I bought?

Yes it is. Corals use these for defense. I has a hammer coral take out a trumpet and an acro. After that I banished all the Euphelia to one side of the tank. Let em fight amoungst themselves but leave my Acro's alone.

Dont remove the coral. Just be aware of it. If I'm not mistaken what you have there is a torch. It will add a lot of movement to the tank. They like to sway with the current. Like I said, just be aware of its placement and the current around it. Put neighbors a little farther away on the downstream side. Many people like them, as well as frogspawn, hammers, grape, etc.

I have two hidden cup corals on the other side of this thing. Do you think it will kill them? The water blows it in the other direction

Heres another from the other side. When they fully extend they get about 1.5-2 inches from the base of the new coral

Its actually blue not white. I was told in a previous thread that they were hidden cup corals. I hope they are not pests haha I love how they look

If your looking for an ID please start your own thread as opposed to adding confusion to the current one. As for your pic its not nearly clear enough to ID IMO.

Mrcoffee, what your seeing is a sweeper tentacle on your coral. These are commen at night and are just a means of the coral protecting itself and feeding. Nothing bad at all, just keep the spacing with other corals an acceptable distance away. There are many corals out there which do the same exact thing so do not remove the coral. Its just nature doing its thing.
