Found this on my rocks this morning.

It looks like a spider nest.

It's below and to the left of the snail

Looks like a pineapple sponge, to me. They are filter feeders and are beneficial.
 
It does look like that. But I also read something about vermited snails?

Vermitides(aka tube worms) do not have a sponge like appearance. They look like little tubes sticking out of rocks that project a mucus to trap food.
 
I have little web looking strings that come out of the rocks, and they move to different spots.

Could this be something from them or is it a sponge?

I've also noticed a very very small dime sized brittle star.
