I see these on the base of the hammer coral. I scrubbed it last night as it looked tubular. A bunch of what looked like algae came off, but today, there are all of these white filaments. What could these be?

The filaments look like aptasia, but aptasia isn’t white. Are they bothering the coral?

Not yet. I have some apatasia that nudibranches are working on and found a few branching hydroids on a birdsnest that don't seem to be bother it.

Sorry, you can ignore the limpet that is photo bombing the image. I am looking at these white filaments that are horizontal on the skeleton of the hammer.

Yes. The horizontal white lines. They did have tubes but they brushed right off last night.

They move quite freely in the water flow so I don't think the are sponges. Not sporbid worms. I have them in the tank and none do these long filaments day and night.

I thought you were talking about that white globby stuff at the base earlier, hence my sponge comment. Your photos are kinda blurry and dark so hard to see detail. Those other things up and down the side of the skeleton are not sponges I agree. Spionid worm is not the same as spiroid worm or vermetid snail.

Here is some other info on Spionid

Thanks. That makes sense. I saw something similar on my seratosa yesterday with the two antenna and a black tube. Now, just need to figure out what to do with them
