That would be a bubble tip anenome. They require good water quality medium light and flow. They will walk all around your tank to find a spot that makes them happy. They can get stuck in your powerheads so watch out for that. They enjoy occasional feedings but don't overfeed.
 
I'd be more concerned that he bought this without doing research. These anenomes are relatively hardy and if the ranks cycled and in good shape for a couple months I wouldn't blast him for that. Just remember never buy anything without research. I mean there are things you can kill just acclimating so you won't know until it's to late.
 
Are those spots on the bottom of the disc or just sand?
