just about to cycle tank and see these. All dry rock except about 5-10% live rock. Do I need to do something first to get rid of these? What are they?

Bristle worms....they won't hurt the aquarium but I hate when the bristles get into my fingers...ouch!

In a new system, yet to cycle, they probably won't fare well anyway. They are absolutely inevitable over time, IMO.
