what’s the exact name of this fish! Is he reef safe for a 100g tank?

It’s a bar goby and they are jumpers. I hope your tank is covered

I don’t have a cover... um, what should I do? I have corals too so I can’t do something that blocks light

You can use eggcrate or go to the home improvement store and buy one of those screen kits and make your own cover

You should have a screen cover, because all fish are potential jumpers... And it really doesn't block any light

Just for future reference, it’s unwise to buy a fish without knowing anything about it.

For example, you could’ve bought a butterfly fish and it would’ve eaten all of your corals. [emoji846]

It is a zebra barred dart fish.

They are open water swimmers and do very well in groups, I have 3. They are always out and about.

They startle easily and make a mad dash for their cave when startled.

I have a mesh top and have personally seen them jump and hit the mesh when frightened.

Agree with @mta_morrow . Zebra barred dartfish (Ptereleotris zebra). Cool fish but definitely needs a screen top. Egg crate will not work for this guy due to his body shape...he would likely go right through it. Remember, if the head fits he can split!

The screen covers mta recommended are pretty easy to build.
