Identify hitchhiker please

Live rock hitchhiker-new to saltwater aquariums-set up new tank to begin cycling yesterday with live rock. Today have hitchhikers showing. Can someone help identify this?

That's an aiptasia! There are various methods to get rid of this. You can use the search function on here to find out the methods, but the one way that worked well for me was using F-Aiptasia and berghia nudibranches.

aiptasia anemone, considered generally bad, will multiply, if housing corals could sting them. Unless you plan to keep an aiptasia tank (some folks do, look for threads), I would eliminate. Plenty of "how to" on here.

That is what I thought. Is it best to scrape of or get something to eat it? I have 2 so far.

Don't scrape them inside your tank it can cause them to spread. Is it possible to remove the rocks they're on? If so, take the rock out and hit those holes with a kalkwasser paste let the mixture sit in the holes for about 15 min then rinse the rock off in RO, then fill in the hole with superglue as best you can before putting the rock back in your tank. Keep an eye out because there could be more.

the one you showed is in a classic kill box - F aphasia better X and or Kalk paste but start now (like today) and be vigilant in the coming weeks and you can handle it

I like to keep a couple of peppermint shrimp in each tank, though they do not always last long
