Identify please

I think it is a snail. Could not get a good view or pic. I first saw it this morning prior to lights coming on. A fish was looking at it and it emitted a few puffs of white milky something. It soon disappeared. In the pic it is grey looking, flat against rocks upper left and mid.

I thought that. I know there is one for sure, but I didn't know they blow jets of water or anything else when approached.

Spawning event. It was a coincidence that it happened when you approached.
