Identify this?

I was doing a little work in my sump and found this, looks and feels like coral. It was buried in the live mud. Could someone identify what it is exactly? Thanks.

Also, it's not something I added to the tank, I have other corals, nothing of this variety though.

Looks like skeletal remains of a dead coral.

Yea looks like some type of acro skeleton. Do any polyps come out?

No, what you see there in the picture is all it has been since discovery.
