Hello all, I am new to this app and a newbie with my salt water fish tank. I've had it since Feburary and noticed this white porous looking thing growing on my live rock. It's soft to touch and breaks apart easily if messed with. Any ideas? It's gotten bigger since Feburary.

I "think" it's a sponge of some type. Does it feel well spongy? Someone in the know will drop in.

Looks like a sponge to me. And welcome to R2R by the way.

Thank you everyone! It just feels soft. So it's not something I should be worried about then?

Probably not a worry.

If you can get more detail in a pic. Or just look close. It may be a tunicate colony.
Even cooler.

Its a sponge. Nothing to worry about. They help purify and filter the water. Don't expose it to air, or you will kill it.
