Thanks thinking my approach will be doing a 15% water change today to be safe lowering light Intensity a tad it's definitely overpowered par for this tank, it's fairly low flow and no rabbit or butterfly fish in the tank, think that will remedy the issue, also temp is steady at 80 can't keep this tank at 78 always wants to go to 80 even if I lower heatertemp not sure of that's effecting anything? It’s called melting
Generally when it does this:
- salinity is high
- nitrates high
- phosphate high
- too much light
- too much flow
- butterfly or rabbit fish eating at it
I have jungles of xenia in one of my tanks and 78 deg seems to be the magic number. Light and flow seems to play an importance as does adding iron.
Tanks been setup for about 7 weeks, 0 water changes added fish once a week until I was done 150lbs of live rock live sand and some sps and soft corals, I've been getting water tested weekly at my salt water store and it's been perfect with 0 issues in the tank until just now, he was shocked when I told him I've never changed the water lol its always perfect when tested so I've left it alone. Thinking my weeks of 0 maintenance are over lol. This is my reef setup from the side viewI have jungles of xenia in one of my tanks and 78 deg seems to be the magic number.
