Idk what to do eith my mandarin

Should I just throw it in? What kind? I got xhaeto but also some dragons breath
I’d recommend going for the one that would do best under your lighting and grows at a nice pace that’s best for your system. Got any algae eaters in the tank?

Just some Scarlets and blue legged hermits.
You should be just fine then, I’d recommend something not too invasive if it’s just some hermits. Dragons breath is both pretty and not too fast growing so I’d go for that.

Someone shut down their tank and gave me a mandarin goby and my 35 is cycling and I put it into my 15g. What should I do with it? Its just a wild mandarin and it had torn fins and I feel bad for it. Should I give it to my lfs? Wait for my tank to cycle?

Ya give the little dude a chance and give to fish store, maybe trade for a frag. They need a seasoned aquarium with a copepod population.

I know it’s not really a good comparison however these guys are heavy pod eaters, much like mandarins. They’re sustained in tanks from 5g to 20g+ and don’t care. Although yes this fish is like 10x smaller than a full grown mandarin (I’d love to see a 2 inch one however I doubt many even get past 1 inch in captivity).

Surely if they’re hapily thriving in small tanks, you can get a mandarin to thrive just as well?

Also, one other difference between these and mandarins is how these guys seem to love the sandbed and rarely go right up ontop of the rocks or up the glass. Instead staying close to the sand bed on rocks that are low down. This could make them harder than a mandarin since you need most of the micro fauna to be in or around the sandbed whereas with a mandarin they hunt everywhere and don’t care.
