It's a question that keeps going thru my brain...on one side the coral is growing so it's happy and on the other side the colors arn't bright enough for my viewing pleasure...Is it a bad move to move the coral up to get the color I want when the coral is growing?

I move my stuff all the time. Just do it slowly so you don't bleach it. You can always move it back if you don't like the results.

It's called finding the sweet spot, move it and leave it for a month and see what happens. If you don't like it then move it again, if you like it then you found the spot.
