If it can go wrong it will in MY tank

I agree that the RKL sounds like the source of your problem. I can't think of any way that the doser could cause your issues unless it began pumping water onto the RKL components. Best of luck with getting things straightened out and sorry to hear about your troubles.

If your ever out in the berkshire i'll hook ya up with some free frags. I would go low tech, i run skimmerless and fugeless, just a 75 gal display with a 30 sump for added water volume. the only equipment related failures i have had was when my HOB fuge over flowed onto my outlet, tripping the breaker causing the heat to drop and flow to stop for about 3 days while i was away. less is more for me now

Well I talked to both DA and BRS a few times today they must hate me. But they more BRS than DA we're pointing fingers. We'll see what DA says when the get the unit. What gets me is both company's say even though my warranties are still good the do not do anything to make up for all of the $ I lost in coral. That I don't get. The way I see it if I go buy a sump pump for my basement and 3 months later it stops working and I get a bunch of damage the compant has insurance to cover that sort of thing. I'm just ranting. This is the first time I have lost almost all of my coral it is depressing.

I really am sorry to hear about your troubles, it appears that you've had more then your share. I can empathize, esp. with your beloved corals. I wish you the best and I truly hope things will work out for you. I must admit, I'm a little surprised with BRS.

I've heard great things about both I'm just still confused at what happened. It was like the perfect storm. The night before I was just looking at the tank so happy how things were looking great.

I so know how you feel, I am not trying to hi-jack your thread but I understand your frustrations and sorrow, I went to bed one night all was well or so I thought, woke up the next morning, walked into the room to look at one of my tanks, coral's that I had had for 8-10 years, All Dead. I'm still at a lose to the cause. Just a few months prior, heater & timer melt down on another tank, lost 90% in that tank, at least I knew what caused their death, the other, still a mystery.

No matter what the cause, when you lose critters it hurts big time not just financially! I seriously hope you get things worked out. Your determination speaks volumes, you haven't thrown in the towel which provides others strength to pick up the pieces to begin again.

ReeferDre, I can tell you that most insurance will not cover live stuff. On your same example, if your sump pump fails causing your basement to flood, they still wouldn't cover the fish tank inhabitants if the water got high enough to flood the sump... Live stuff is just so hard and while you may be able to slip it by the insurance company, DA knows what their products are for. More than likely they have this written out in the fine print of their warranty. Sucks but true...

I will say though that word of mouth is all you need to get some power in the situation. Letting people know what happened will turn away prospective customers. The best thing DA can do is take good care of you and try do something to make you happy. It may not be 100% replacement but they can at least step up and do what's needed to keep you happy in the end.
