How low? What test?

If magnesium is super low, it very likely is test error or low salinity. Do not just randomly raise it without figuring out why you got that result. Low magnesium does not just randomly happen. It takes a long time of dosing alk and calcium and no magnesium. Magnesium is depleted at no more than 1/10th of the rate that calcium is depleted.

Try that same kit on some new salt water.

If it were me I would still retest, doesn't matter what produced the results. Before I would do any corrective measures.
