Goldflakes are among the safest of angels in my experience. Great fish and one of my favorite species for an sps dominant display.

Very interesting........... I've tried one before and my zoas, donut coral, lps, acans, and bowerbanki were all victims to the gold flake after he got over 4 1/2 inches. I'd never suggest this fish as a reef safe option as I think from my experience they are far from it.
Maybe we can play the "It must of been your fish. It must have went rogue," Card. Luckily if I was a betting man and I am I'd bet a pretty penny that if any of my friends put a goldfish angel in their "Reef Tank" for long enough they'd be disappointed. That is unless of course you didn't really care about them sniffing around and test nibbling on everything in the tank until they found something they took a liking too. I fed my tank too 3-4 times a day as i have several types of Anthers including disbar, bartletts, and a borbonius. To no avail no amount of food kept him happy enough to not continue the destruction of my reef.
After ripping apart half my reef to get him and pulling out most of my hair I finally got him out and into my quarantine he went. I then sold him shortly after. Still as healthy as the day I got him, I ended up selling him to my friend.

They could be reef safe depending on how you define "reef". I bet the angel would be fine with just SPS.
I have a tank full of SPS with a fully adult 8 inch emperor. I just know my limits. SPS and euphilia only for me. I know better that to try anything soft. I tried a chalice once and the emperor ate the skins off of it in 5 minutes. I saw him mow down a large chunk GSP. He nips my SPS now and then, but not too bad. He's worth it.
I know emperors aren't goldflake's, but is assume most large angels behave similarly.
