I am the only one who's friends and family members think I'm crazy? I just wish I could share the joy my tanks bring me with everyone!!(of course that's what the drug addicts say;) ) It's safe to say the world would be a better place if we all had reef tanks.(Spoken like a true addict)

I'm lucky. My father is the one that got me and my brother into the hobby via fresh water tanks when we were very young. At my parents house I believe there are 5 tanks currently running. My girlfriend like looking at the tank and doesn't really give me a hard time about it, unless I decide to work on the tank when we had plans to do something else that I forgot about...lol

What I wouldn't give to have my hobby be a family thing!

My wife likes to look. And no hard time as well. But gets upset when I explain bad algaes for an hour. And would not let it go when I actually pulles out a chunk of bryopsis for her examination. ;-) my kids have no interrest other than naming my fish. I long for people to discuss the details with..... that's why I'm here:-D

Its bad when you have to hide UPS boxes. Make sure you have the corals acclimated and in the tank before she gets home or the interrogation starts. It also starts with when did you get that???

I'm lucky as well. Wife doesn't touch the tank but enjoys the hobby and loves swaps n traveling to fish places. My 3 oldest kids all have tanks and help with our reef cost with bday Christmas gifts reef related. My parents had aquarium since I was 7 and dad's passed but mom's gifts have been reef related. Everyone enjoys the reef when together for holiday or bdays ect. Friends are mixed they all love it but some think it's cost is crazy others have started reefs because of ours. But I'm guilty of a snuck in box here and there lol. The wife notices n looks with a is that new or did you rearrange things n smiles with a I cought you snicker lol.

Haha if it's bad then we are in a bad place together! I order stuff through the lfs just so I can sneak in New equipment like lights without anyone ever having to know how much it was haha

I fit right in here on R2R with all the other reef addicts. Obsession and compulsion when it comes to reef tanks. My wife hates going with me to the LFS. I can talk tank for days. She likes the fish and corals, but often asked if I can turn off the chiller while we watch TV. I just say turn up the volume! Maybe when we buy a house with a garage I can add a fish room lol! Then she would probably complain about me always disappearing.

I definitely fall in this category! You can't just have ONE tank. I always say it's so tranquil/serene. My teenagers say yes till one of your water parameters are off. Haha!

We're adding new electrical outlets and expanding breaker box to add tanks where wife wants to add them. Lol. She was upset I passed on a 125 gallon tank because I didn't want everyone getting upset I just came home with it told me next time don't wait to discuss it snatch it up she's going to be mad if I don't again lol.

I have fish for 60 years and am married for 41 years. Some day I am going to tell my wife that we have a reef tank.

That sounds like mine. We went to look at a 100G. She said it won't fit on the wall where she wanted so we settled for the 75G. BUT, she pointed at the 150G and told them, we'll be back for that when we retire! She always asks "why didn't you buy it?" when I tell her about a nice coral I saw at Ultimate. Then I have to get back in the car and go back and buy it..
