If running a remote fuge, is a algae scrubber needed

I'm pluming up my 125 mixed reed and I am going to put in a remote fuge above the sump and while I'm pluming, I asked my self is a algae scrubber needed if running a 50 gallon fuge. Plan on macro algae and or cheato and some mangroves for looks. Shrimp. snails and pods will live in it

IMO you can never have too many means of nutrient export!

Well I plumbed the remote fuge and also i plumbed in spots to connect reactors if needed(ball valved) and one to run a algae scrubber.

I'm going to start a build post as Im taking pictures and really thinking this out lol

An algae scrubber isn't ever required. Would it be helpful in addition to macroalgae? Depends on how big each is, and one might deter growth significantly in the other.

I say you got a very decent size fuge try it alone and see if it's able to handle your nutrients. it not then maybe add the Scrubber. yet as mentioned by Randy the scrubber might compete for nutrients with your fuge instead of complementing the fuge tasks...

You don't really need the refuge or the algae scrubber IMO. Good husbandry combined with an efficient skimmer and you should be set. KISS, GL.

the reason for the bigger fuge, is for looking at it while I'm down there. It will serve its purpose but entertain me also
