if you could change just one thing ...

I had sand too; about 20 years ago. I never could keep the sand healthy and decent. :)

Would have used better quality live rock instead of the dead rock I had left over from an old breakdown

I would stop moving so i can let my tank become established, and stop loosing my corals when i move! ;(

I would have killed the first few majanos I saw instead of saying I'll do it later. :/

If I was to change one thing , I would have started this hobby way earlier, it's just amazing

One other thing I forgot but usually think about when ever I am responding to a new to the hobby person asking the wrong questions; I wish I would have visited the tanks of two or three guys that had the same general sized tank I was going to build and keeping what I wanted to keep. There is so much that can be learned in a two or three hour visit that just can not be translated in postings and books.

I would have built a stand for my 125g that is 36" tall.....The factory stand is to short and I have to bend over to look at my reef....I shoulda put a lift kit on the factory stand LOL

Stand height was a major consideration for us when we were building our display system. We wanted the tank right at the door and to be right in your face as you walk in. There is no doubt that you are in the marine biology room the moment you walk through the door!! The only trouble is that I have to use a ladder to do almost anything inside the tank

NEVER putten that rock of star polyps against another rock 6 months ago

DOH!!! ...it's now isolated

I did the same thing.

Only it was with Pink Briareum (Think GSP but Lavender in Color if you are unfamiliar with this Coral).

Now half my Rock is Covered in this Coral!

It grows much Faster than Green Star Polyp and is much much harder to get off the Rock too.

My Advice is to Never Ever buy it.

Really?

I would loose so much beneficial bacteria that lives in the live rock that filters the water.

Or am I mistaken?

I just think that one day I will wake up and out of the blue there will be a huge Ammonia Spike that kills everything.
Nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria do not require light. :)

I don't remember when I set up my tank. (The only calendars then were made by the Aztecs) so I would not do anything different.

When I bought my first piece of live rock i saw some cool coral looking things on it. Me not knowing what I was doing bought a rock full aptasias .

I'd change the fact that I have to keep it at my Dad's >< but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it.
