I've been in the market for a light for quite a while now.. Every time I try to get lights something stops me (having a kid, etc). As we all know it's an investment.

My tank is six feet long, 30" high and 2 feet deep. I want mainly lps and shrooms but may have a sps or two. Money aside.. If you could get any light what would it be? I've been interested in g4 pros but I've heard a lot of good things about halides, t5, other leds... This includes combos, reef brites, etc. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews of well.. About everything. Please explain your choice because I need to pick a light, stick with it then buy it.

Not worried about heat either.

I saw a tank with Reefbreeders Photon V2's. Beautiful. Color was wonderful, growth was impressive for mixed reef, probably 50/50 Sps/Lps. Probably a 48x48x36 or so cube style tank. If I had to buy another light, that would be it. LED diodes are spread out quite well over the fixture, unlike puck style lights. I'm sure a couple T5's would make it even better, although this guy was running the LED's only, 2 fixtures. I was impressed

Ecotech 4 pro. X 3 If money is not a problem. How wide is your tank?
Reefbreeders are good too never heard a bad thing about them. Every tank I have seen that is awesome is ecotech, reefbreeders, t5 or metal halides. Get nice LED especially for a mixed tank.
At the end of the day we all run the best we can afford or based off a what we want to acheive.

It's six feet long, two feet deep (width) and 30" tall. Do you supplement the g4 pros?

I think the G4's are fantastic lights. I don't think that you can go wrong with them and they will last for a long time. If money isn't of concern you could certainly add a few t5ho and grow anything that you want.

That being said I could probably just buy some sb reef lights that will grow anything that I want and put the extra grand towards coral, but that wasn't the question.

If i had the money I would have gone with Orphek v4. However, they only come with 1 year warranty(from what I hear). So scratch that.

I like low maintenance lighting like LED. Bulbs have to be replaced and that is something I know I would forget to do. So my second choice would have to be 2x Kessil AP700's. They have higher 420nm UV range than Radions from what the latest BRS Par spectrum video. They have awesome spread. I would suggest Radion G4 if someone paid me *hint* *hint* till then, meh. ;Smug

I love my ATI Powermodule (8x48 plus 3 LED modules). Looks good, corals love it, and I can tweak bulbs on it if I feel froggy. It's fully programmable and dimmable.

Thanks for all the recommendations, I hope more people put in their two cents. I'm gonna research all the ones listed here and hopefully make a decision [emoji106]

+1

I made the switch from T5 to LED and that didn't last long. Back to T5 now and if you want that POP just add the Reefbrite to your fixture.

Would a 60 inch ati hot5 cut it? That would leave 6 inches open on each side
