my first try was more than 20 years ago. long before the internet. I did just about everything wrong. tank was nothing but an ich breeding ground. lace rock instead of live, non compatable fish, and no qt. ended up cleaning the tank and went fresh for many years. two years ago I converted my 120 gal. wild discus tank to sw. lots of research. started as a fowlr and now is full of softies and some lps. tank is doing great. lots of conflicting advice on the internet, but it's better than the advice a bad lfs gives you. my advice to newbies is go slow, and do not add anything until you research it. ask questions on whatever forum you prefer. it's not as hard as some might believe.
