I run carbon randomly, used to always run it 24/7. I use a reactor like TLF. Used Chemipure Elite for a while. As for which carbon I just whatever was cheapest and not too small. Use it to polish the water and remove any coral toxins.

I run BRS ROx 24/7. Have for decades. I make sure there is absolutely no way for any fines to enter the display; just in case it actually does contribute to HLLE. Balanced and adequate feeding has allowed me to avoid HLLE completely.
