Did the new baby arrive yet? congrats she/he did.
was curious since you've had your tank going for a while. since the top is open, how's your evap rate? what size ATO tank are you using? debating between the 5 and 15. Also how's the temp on it, does it stay close to room temp or will I need cooling options? still trying to piece my needs together and start purchasing some stuff and hoping great deals at Black Friday. leaning towards two xr15s on the rail mount but attach them to PVC boards at maybe 12" to make it more stable for feet and silicone the pvc to the euro. may not look pretty but I can shape the boards to make it look better. do you think I'd be able to drop a few mangroves on the sides of the skimmer with a grow light? And how well are the filter cloth balls working? I've been thinking to use marine filter sock, pure balls and carbon. Also keep thinking I should have went 150 instead of 112 for the larger sump to work things into.
Thanks, Paul

Oh, I was thinking to get one of these trays for underneath for any water issues if it fits. 3'x3' Vivosun tray. I've come across a few builds that peeps built a PVC tray but that shrinks your space in there. 6ML plastic just won't lay flat and may not last too long.

4'6month wait and I'm 2 months in waiting. Hoping it's 4.

She isn’t due until early December so I have a little bit more time to get some renovations done on the house haha.

As far as evaporation, I’m losing about 1/2 gallon per day. I believe my ATO Reservoir is around 10 gallons and it lasts a couple weeks between fills. I haven’t had any issues with the tank holding too much heat but I have the top completely unobstructed so nothing is keeping evaporation down.

You can definitely fit a little “fuge” area in the skimmer chamber. I don’t just because I don’t like getting algae growth inside/on my skimmer.

I don’t have anything bad to say about the floss balls. I haven’t touched them and they seem to be doing their job. I don’t like socks because of the cleaning every day or so to keep them from overflowing. I wouldn’t recommend marinepure. I’ve used it for several years including in commercial applications and they always fall apart over time

3’x3’ would be bigger than the interior dimensions of the stand so I don’t think that tray would work. If you wanted to have a waterproof tray around the sump, you could glue some Azek 1x2 to the bottom pvc board. If you go around the whole perimeter with the 1x2 and glue it with pvc cement, it would hold water.

narrows the list down some. was deciding between the IM 5 and 15. so the 5 hopefully I just add RO once a week (should fit in cab after reviewing sump size and interior). I like the IM pull out no spill drawer and glass so sticking with that. Wish they made a 10 gal though. thanks for the info

Did you order the setup with the plumbing included? I would just recommend having the sump pulled as far forward in the stand as possible so you can put your ATO reservoir and dosing/wiring and cables in the back.

yeah, I ordered it all together (complete reef) so they included the plumbing.

Quick photo update. Tank is progressing well. All fish are healthy and growing, seahorses included. I replaced my large Achilles with a 2 inch juv that I picked up from a fellow forum member. The cleaner shrimp have been pestering my plate corals so I’ve moved three of them to the frag tank for the time being. The mysis at the center of the TCK insane plate must taste extra delicious

Holy wow! This is one of the more creative builds I've seen. My jaw dropped when I saw your plumbing job. Love, love the little frag tank underneath. Looking forward to more updates.

IM112 is my dream sized tank. Love the box.

Thank you! It took a lot of planning and a little luck with some of the fitments and clearance haha. The frag tank is perfect for me

Can you show some more of the wiring and cable management? I’ve got the same tank and I’m struggling with making it look nice under the stand lol.

I’ll get

I’ll take some pictures tonight. Anything you want to look at in particular? I basically made extension cords at the length to get all the equipment plugs and transformers/power supplies into the cabinet under the frag tank

Seeing under the cabinet would be cool. Is that where you put all the controllers as well? Thank you!

Yeah it’s admittedly a bit of a mess in the cabinet right now haha. I added some more equipment and never cleaned up the wiring inside the cabinet. Out of sight out of mind I guess haha
