Hey everyone! Been setting up my first Innovative Marine 20, an addition to my tank collection. Going to be a Mixed Reef of SPS, Softies, and some LPS. I have already upgraded the stock return pump with a Cobalt MJ1200, and two IM Spinstreams. Im thinking of adding in an Ice Cap 1K gyre to beef up the flow in the tank, but was wondering had any thoughts on this plan, suggestions, or experience with the Ice Cap 1k Gyre......

That seems like pretty good flow to me. With the spinstreams you'll get some random flow patterns too. I'd personally avoid adding as much equipment in the tank as you can so the space can be used for coral.

I had an IM 20 for about 2 yrs under earlier this year. I ran a Sicce 1.5 with dual spinstreams and one MP10. Had plenty of flow and less intrusive in the tank.

Are you planning on adding sand? I have the 1K in my IM40, which is the same width and a little bit deeper, and even at 10% and only running one side it's still blowing my sand around. I also had to create a barrier to shield my euphyllia from it...they are not fans. I think if I did it over again I'd swap it out for an MP10.

I am doing a sand bed, a mixture of Live Sand (20lbs) and some aragonite i had left over from a previous tank. I didn't think about the sand blowing around. Where did you place your MP10?

I have the 1K for my IM40, not the MP10. But I have tried the 1K all over, taken half off, etc. and it's still too much. I'm also running a mostly LPS & softie system so I don't need a whole lot of flow, just enough to keep detritus afloat.
