Im recently back from a 6+ year hiatus from the hobby and ended up getting a 38 mini Nuvo. This tank was established for 5 plus years and the owner was getting out of the hobby before he let the system totally collapse. The system came equipped with a lot of things but needed some TLC. The following highlights the stuff I acquired in the initial purchase plus what I have contributed so far

Items that came in the purchase

Nuvo mini 38
Stock return pump
2 x koralia with koralia wavemaker
Kessil 360 tuna blue w controller
Auto too off
Ghost skimmer
Heater
Random misc items

Livestock:

Ocellaris clown
Cuc (6 crabs, handful of adult snails, lots of small snails
Candy cane w/5 heads
Small colony of blastos?

What I’ve added:
MP40 bought used, was beat up, changed out driver
Mp10qd new
Sicce 1.5 return
Media basket
Random equipment
Couple acans
Gsp
Couple palys/zoas
Duncans

Other changes:
Removed media from back chambers
Added about 7 lbs of LR

The tank had GHA and other signs of neglect so I’ve been taking time cleaning up the tank step by step. After relocating the tank to my place, I’ve been doing pretty frequent low-volume water changes (brightwell salt). I’ve been tapering back on the water changes but have still noticed algae popping up over the last couple of weeks. Feedings have been reduced to maybe a couple times a week. Thinking that the move itself. The removal of debris from back chamber, and the introduction of new rock all have been contributing factors.

I’m running the mp40 and the mp10 together (mp10 slave) at about 20% reefcrest, which is giving fair flow in the tank. Would like to do a fuge if some sort in the back and I also need to get the skimmer figured out. I’m not quite sure where to put it as the first chamber is deeper than skimmer is tall and I would need some type pedestal for it to stand on. I just haven’t gotten that far yet but that’s pretty much the next on the list. I couldn’t help it and bought a bunch of corals that will be arriving this week. Once the corals acclimate I think I’ll go ahead and add the next fish (TSB).

Now that we are up to speed I can go ahead and add updates, ask questions etc!

Nice pickup! Sounds like you are giving it the help and patience it needs.

Any updates? I'd love to see some pics of the filtration compartment. I just got a Nuvo 38 too and I am looking for some equipment setups.
