I’m new to this so please forgive me. Can someone explain how the back “sump” on this tank works? After feeding a couple flakes, the remaining food goes through the slots on the back, and I can look at the left most Chamber (which has a mini refugium and bio balls in it, and the food is just doing circles on the top of the surface of the chamber. I have a sicce 2.0 pump, shouldn’t this stuff get pulled down into the next chamber, and then the second chamber. How come it just floats at the top?

I found out that if you lower the water level you’ll get more water going through the whole filtration system and food doesn’t float on top.

So should I keep the water like barely above the slots?

I keep mine like an inch above the slots

The center pump chamber should have a low water level. An inch or two below the wall. After having one set up for several years now I can hear the sound to tell if my ATO is working correctly or not. [emoji3]

Crap I think mine is all even across the back. It should be lower then the outer chambers? What can I do to lower it just pour some from there to the display?

Just remove a little water a bit at a time. I keep my ATO sensor in the center chamber. The Lowe level in the center pulls the water they the rear chambers. So you want a good flow thru the rear of your tank.

Should the water level in the center be below the intake holes??

Heres a picture of my center chamber on my nuvo 20

FWIW, you can turn off the return pumps while feeding to be sure the food stays in the display. I usually turn mine off for 10-15 minutes. Also, let the food sit in a cup of tank water and let it saturate for a bit. This will keep it from floating.

So I started my cycle on feb 18th and all my levels have dropped to where they’re supposed to. I added a couple clowns this weekend and have been feeding them LRS reef frenzy which they seem to enjoy.

I have to say this nuvo skim DC is a tricky piece of hardware. It does nothing but create a ton of microbubbles. Some that are stuck to the front of this tank which you can see in this pic, and then a million ones you can’t see in the photo. I’ve adjusted the cup up and down and no difference. I’m really not getting anything but clear liquid in my cup and maybe some really minor particles. It’s been running for like 3 days and no difference in microbubbles. I dunno if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s normal.

That's normal for a new skimmer. My eshopps nano took about a month to break in and stop spewing microbubbles everywhere. Also your skimmate wont be very dark with a light bio load.

I have the same tank and the same skimmer. I'm having some issues with it too. It didn't produce much skim (only clear water) for the first week. It's finally producing some skim now, however the bubbles do escape from the side of the cup, I do have to adjust it on occasion, and its incredibly LOUD !!!!!!

Mix the food with some tank water in a cup before feeding. Turn off the return pump and the feed below the water line with a turkey baster. That should solve the problem for the most part.
