Downgraded a few years ago form a 120 to a 40. 120 never had major fish issues or disease. The IM 40 has a Nero3 on one side running 50-65% toward the rear and a little Sicce 660 GPH on the other side toward the front that come on for 15 minutes every hour during the day on a simple timer.

I can't keep any fish alive. I've gone through all the usual suspects....no stray voltage, no ammonia. The water quality is actually great and I have all kinds of corals growing well in it. When I find a dead fish, it looks fine. No ich, velvet, flukes, worms, parasites....

All the fish seem to hide for a week or two, (up to a month max) then I find them dead.

It's been almost 3 years of this. I've gone through bar gobies, watchman goby, algae blenny x 2, royal gramma, tobacco basslet (he jumped) and a couple of filefish. I did have my old mated clowns in there, but I moved them to a nem tank I put up. They are doing fine. These fish had all been QT'd prior to me receiving them.

I kept to the easy nano fish in an attempt to make sure I was doing the right thing for having a small tank. Snails and crabs are super happy and spawning in there like crazy without any predators. The pods are taking over as well.

If I saw any sign of disease to treat, I have no issue going that route.....hence the original question. Are all of these fish just weak swimmers and getting blown around to death?

Can we get a pic of your tank to get a better idea of what your dealing with?

Not a flow issue. I have 2x Jebao SLW20M wave makers in an IM25 lagoon. They are programmed to alternate between full blast and 30% every 3 hours or so (with one pump always at full blast). Have no issues with fish. Diamond goby has been in the tank for more than 5 months and pj cardinals for more than a year.

If I were to guess off the top of my head, since everybody is doing great, including the CUC. it is a nutritional issue... Because of their shyness, they are not getting a proper diet. I am currently going thru this with a lawnmower right now. in the 10g he was a bit of a porker, now that he has moved to the 40, he has lost a bit of weight because he is too slow on the draw when it comes to eating. And I have a really Fat BlueTang...

I turn off all flow through my Apex when feeding. Feed frozen Rods or LRS and occasional pellets mostly for the CUC. Here's some quick pics on my way out the door for work. A little bit of cyano, but not too worried about that since I know that wouldn't mess with the fish.
