IM 75g Ext "Ryan's TRB"

Are you still liking the Gyres?

Definitely. I never hear them and the ability to have different flow patterns throughout the day is awesome. Only 1 dead spot in my tank where the detritus collects in between the two rock structures.

I'd say if you are looking to only get 2 pumps then the gyres are the way to go. I never had the previous versions but these are fairly easy clean. Not as easy as my old vortechs were but not to far off either.

Hey all,

Quick progress shots of the acros for a quick update. Not much else going on with the tank. The first ugly stage is starting to wane, the urchin is mopping up the patches now and they aren't growing back. So that's good to see

No name highlighter acro

As you can see the colors are still pale but they are growing so i'm not going to change anything. Thanks for looking.

Quick update:

All the pale hair algae is gone. The urchin started making a dent in it (showing slowed growth) and then this week it literally all disappeared. Always fun to see the ugly phase go away on its own!

Love this tank. I will be upgrading my 40-gallon AIO cube in a few months as a Christmas present to myself and I think I've decided on the IM EXT 75. I love the depth of it compared to pretty much all other tanks I've seen, including the Red Sea Reefer. Any buyer's remorse?

Also, impressed with your patience. I keep looking at my tank and pulling myself back from adding more corals and actually giving everything some room to grow.:)

Zero buyers remorse. It fits the spot I wanted it to go perfectly and the dimensions are great for scaping. Thanks! it is super tough being patient. All the acro's are still encrusting. I'm shooting for black friday to add a batch of acros to see how they will do.

Thanks for checking the tank out!

My apologies for the lack of updates, though not to much is going on with the tank.

I tried another cleaner shrimp and he lasted about a week and vanished. I've honestly never had a problem keeping shrimp so i'm not sure. I found no remains so it almost leads me to believe my fairy wrasse took it out. However, everything i've read suggests they won't.

My acros have encrusted and grown since the last pictures but the last 2-3 weeks or so my alk consumption has stopped. I'm not sure why besides maybe my nutrients have been low to long. I want to add another fish but can't decide which one honestly. I'm going to feed more and keep monitoring my nitrates and phosphates in the meantime.

Hope everyone is having/had a good summer.

I love your tank. I am looking to set up a new tank and the IM ext 75 is the front runner. Are you happy with the tank? How is the fit and finish? Was the stand hard to get to fit together correctly? The guy at the LFS told me the APS stand is not so good.

Do you have a list of equipment?

I noticed your in Florida, so am I.

Its about 7 months in and still happy with the tank and stand. The stand was super easy to put together and is braced well so im not worried about the center bowing or anything. I love the ext, but you can't put it flat against a wall so keep that in mind. Drain is silent which is awesome.

Not to much equipment.

Ati 8 bulb sunpower
2 - xf330 gyres
Reef octopus essence 300 shimmer
Tunze ato
Coralbox doser
Sicce return pump
Filter socks sometimes
Refugium is completely offline atm due to undetectable nitrate and phosphate.

I think that's it

Thanks for checking out the thread, I'll keep an eye out for yours.

Thanks for the info, everyone or R2R has been very helpful. How far off the wall do you have to keep it? What are the dimensions on the over flow box?

The overflow box is about 4"x 6" x 16", 4" being how far it comes off the tank.

I built this little wood cover and I honestly forget its not just part of the tank.

Thanks for the help. I’m just trying to figure out how forward I would have to bring out my tv stand so that they are about the same level. Other wise the thank would stick out
