I really didn’t want to write this but need some advice. I have a flipper cleaning magnet and just noticed the metal blade part of flipper is missing. Im not sure how long it’s been missing but maybe months lol. Was beginning to think I needed to use a hand held scrapper because the flipper wasn’t cutting it anymore hahaha.

Well I can’t find it and fear it could be in tank somewhere. Is this a potential problem you think? Tank is 155g and everything is doing fine for now. Thanks, Eric

I leave mine in the tank 24/7, so I wouldn't be that concerned about it causing any immediate damage. That being said I wonder if the blade would be attracted to a magnetic? might be able to drag one around and locate it.

No what you have there is a plastic flipper for acrylic not glass. You might have bought the wrong one. They come in plastic blades for glass and metal blades for acrylic.

Someone with a flipper want to see if the blade is attracted to a magnet?

Many types of stainless steel are _NOT_ Ferromagnetic. The blades for my tunze are not.

If you only have corals you're fine, but any sand sifting fish, or snails and they could be injured.

It is stainless and I tried a magnet with it. Unfortunately it does not seem to be attracted.

Its stainless and non magnetic. You will have to fish around or order from marine Depot or BRS who will get it to you in 2 dAYS

You got the first part right, looks like the second half was a mix up.

Metal blades: glass
Plastic blades: acrylic

Maybe something like the Eheim battery operated vacuum? It doesn't take water out of the tank, it just filters everything through a mesh bag and returns the water to the tank. Because you obviously don't want to find it with your fingers.

Thanks for the advice everyone I will continue searching but sounds like its not emergency if I cant find it. I dont have star fish but do have snails. I just can’t believe how long I have been scrapping the glass for with out it ;Pompus;Joyful
