Hello all.

My two tanks are in shambles. I had no time for them. I was depressed, exhausted and i just let them go. My 32 gal biocube has no fish in it i gave them away and whatever coral that's inthere is hanging by a thread. Its infested with asterina starfish those bad anemones.

and My fluval 13.5 has nothing alive in it. Its just salt water, sand and live rock. The water has evaporated immensely so im assuming the salinity of whatever water is left is insanely high. Im moving tomorrow and i want to start over. I figured the best way to start is to reset the fluval first and put whatever coral that's alive in there and then bleach the biocube from head to toe...

Can i use the sand that's in the fluval or just get new sand? What's the quickest way to go about this. Any support or advice would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance.

Rip clean! Search on here for rip clean There’s a lot of threads, basically what u mentioned, clean the heck outta rocks scrubbing whatever u can off, keeping them alive and using vinegar on the glass while corals/livestock are in bucket/plastic tote

Would wash the sand extremely if reusing it.

I have had 2 tanks neglected and turned them around. The 125 I removed the sand bed, replaced, replaced the powerheads that had quit, changed lighting, and just gave it love and maintenance. It took close to a year to get it in shape. Just as it was good, I upgraded lol's. You can read my 125g build thread--start near the end to see the results. Just did the same with the 45 g. It's looking good now. Still working on lower no3 but all is good.

You can do this.

Went and found this. Some nice person here actually posted my befores and afters. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/susans-125-gal-re-reboot-3rd-times-the-charm.760304/page-14

First of all, there's zero shame in admitting you let things go while struggling and you need help. Many of us have been there, often more than once (speaking from experience). It's good that you reached out. :)

Second, you got this. Your plan to use the fluval to house remaining coral while you're rebooting the biocube is probably the same thing I'd do. I'd use new sand in the fluval (or rinse the existing sand really, really well if you're wanting to reuse it). I'd dip anything you move from the biocube to the fluval and carefully inspect, so you don't transfer over any asterinas or aiptasia.

If two tanks were ever too much to deal with, just set up one. Two tanks are significantly more work than one.

You can use the fluval to house inhabitants while you clean the biocube, but as soon as that’s done, drain and clean the fluval and put it in storage.

I Agree with all as above but would just like to add maybe take this next step more carefully, if you struggled with two aquriam's maybe reduce the stress/commitment on yourself and just revive/ start anew with just one aquriam. create an aquarium that works for you and your time.
I mean this in the most sincerest way possible and wish you the success :)
