IME when you tank is new, which I am assuming yours is, it's better to be more proactive when dealing with pest algea and try to correct it before it becomes a plague in your tank. I would go ahead and add something to help control its growth and then make sure your nutrients export is sufficient to help limit its growth. I never had much luck with hermits eating any significant amount of green hair algea but YMMV.

Im not going to add stuff to the tank before there's anything for it to eat. And i have 2 snails in my tank right now
