I'm at a loss. Reef parameters

My wife needs some of that second hand BRS lol. When I had my tank in our room I was always telling her to put out her candles and not spray anything. Tank is no longer in our room haha

What's your water change schedule like? Do you also dose foods like amino acids or anything like that for your corals?
I have just reef roids and some stuff from reef nutrition, arctipods I believe it's called, nothing crazy

Lol we're hitting a brick wall my friend it seems like everything your doing is right. Could it be something in your pipes?
I was having problems with sps then I started to dose red sea reef ab+ as well as seachem reef plus and saw some improvements.
#reefsquad. Maybe someone from the squad can chime in.

Good luck Charlie!! Seems like you are doing everything right.

Personally, I believe that all crustaceans are pests and do not belong in a Reef Tank. So you could take the hermits out. Outside of that, you may want to look at the organic aspect of the tank - dose bacteria, use a bio pellet reactor, feed live zoo planktons ... etc.

Your ICP tests may provide further clues.

What’s your source water? Are you using RODI? Could there be anything going on like unknown high TDS?
I have well water, but I have a 7 stage rodi from BRS and both the built in meter and the handheld read zero, I just sent in my icp test today so hopefully the results show something

Just 1 Prime on a 45G?

Just 1 Prime on a 45G?
Yea just one, it's Just a 24 by 18 footprint, so I know the edges might get a bit less coverage but not by much from what I gathered. I haven't rented a par meter and I know I really should

A week ago, I was helping an older gentleman, 75ish retired doctor, sharp as could be figure our why he was losing fish. Our discussion of what it could be sounded a lot like this one. We really examined every angle. Finally, I asked him how often and does he make it a habit putting his hands in the tank. And obviously a follow up question, of does he use ointments, medicated or not on his hands? Dead silence on the phone for what seemed like a minute. He told me yes and that he had just started feeding his flake food by putting his fingers under water just before this problem began to occur. Smaller tanks are much more susceptible to possible contaminations like this.

I'm a little stumped too. I will be curious to see if the ICP shows anything strange. This is a case where an ICP may be useful.

On the corals you've picked:
A Goni dying isn't all that unusual. Zoas *can be easy, but some tanks do have trouble with them, And there are lots of zoa pests. Hammers and torches should be easy, but I've had some melt on me. I have found Acans to be about the easiest stony coral.

It might worth running some activated carbon.

I know that isn't a ton of help. Good luck.

That's a possibility, I try to be careful with just rinsing and drying my hands before and after but I rarely put my hands in the tank

Beyond what has been asked, any pictures of the system? More info about the corals and what kind?

So bad camera work, my zoas are so closed it's hard to tell they are even there. I know the smaller tank is covered in algae I try to let that happen and I siphon it all out when I do a water change it's my way of doing a nutrient export because for some reason macro algae will not grow on my tank as well.

When I first put the corals in for like a week everything is all happy, I'm just going to anxiously wait for the icp test

For comparison, couple months ago, right before the new batch of coral started to fade. This is right after a water change

Oh and then I have this happening every couple weeks

Hello, I've had my waterbox 45.2 set up for about 1 year, with previously cycled rock that was 2 years old (for what that matters). I am just at a loss, corals don't last in my tank at all, and from what I've gathered I should have SOME level of success. My parameters are as follows:
Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 10ppm
Phosphate 0ppm-.1ppm
CA 400
Mg1480
Alk 8.4 dkh
pH 8.6
salinity 1.026

the fish are doing great, clown fish are even laying eggs every couple weeks.
I have an ai prime running the brs ab+ schedule and a mp 10 running at about 20%
I'm only trying to keep LPS and zoas.
The corals will do great for about a week then the polyps stop extending and they slowly waste away. I've tried spot feeding them and it doesn't seem to help.

ANY input is much appreciated, I'm really at a loss. I'm really considering leaving the hobby and I truly don't want to do that. Thank you in advance to anyone that helps
More flow. A 45 gallon tank and an mp10 at 20%. I have a 40 gallon cube and run a MP40 on reef crest or constant speed 80-90% 24/7 and a small wave maker on the other end for some resistance and non regular water movement.

Welp. I think I finally found it. So my rodi "station" is set up in a way where I don't need to open the container to get my top off water. Well I saw a thread somewhere that their container wasn't perfectly clean and started to smell. WELLLLLLL let me tell you I opened the lid of that brute trash can and WOW I gagged a bit. The smell was awful and I couldn't tell what it was, maybe a sulfur smell, couldn't place my finger on it. There is no way that could be good for the tank. So today I'll be getting new ones and cleaning them out multiple times before I store them, I might even go down to tractor supply and get some of those white water storage containers. I really think this could be it, Im not sure how I didn't smell it before, but when I put it in my normal bucket I use to top off my water the smell isn't as strong. Wish me luck!

Way to do it Charlie! Have a great weekend.
