Here are profile of mine before rescaping and basically removing existing coral for different acros. By the way the tank was almost 5 years at this point all coral grown from frags aka sticks and chips.

As germ42 said above they are called circulation pumps. I would suggest getting some jebao pumps on Amazon. Super cost effective and they have a good bit of controllability.

Those are just simply circulation pumps to keep the water moving around as saltwater fish are used to a strong current/wave motion from the ocean moving so much! It's real funny to watch fish swim in the current. One time I saw a fairy wrasse that would dart towards the pump/WaveMaker and the pump would shoot it back across the tank lol it was hilarious to me.

How to select the right circulation pump?
I mean like it's a bit confusing selecting one, like I don't get how they are sold on websites? I know I have to get it with controller, but it's all have different names and it's kinda hard for me to decide?
And which size do you recommend for my tank?
I'm thinking to start with FOWLR and then move to SPS or LPS later on. Tank size is 40x24x20 nearly 100Gal.

Check this series out that bulk reef supply did. It's probably one of the most informative series out there for saltwater tanks. It will answer mostly all the questions you have on how to start up a new tank including what kind of circulation pump you need. Also check out there site. They sell just about anything you will ever need.

Actually heat wasn't even a factor in my choice. First it was cheaper than buying 3x XR30w Pros, I purchased 6 XR15wPro. My last fixture was an ATI Powermodule LED/T5 unit which had tremendous coverage and I was a little worried about the "spotlight " effect that people talk about with LED pendants. I figured more lights for better coverage. Worst case scenario I have a spare if one goes bad, or add it in if I decide to add a canopy or the coverage isn't right. Though I think I'm pretty well covered. I'm also hoping to be able to run them at a slightly lower setting. Only been on for 3 days, with 4 weeks of acclimation ahead. Will see how it looks in a month
